How does your body tell you that youve aged? You can feel it with the physical limitations. Perhaps your legs may no longer sustain long runs or your back gives out when you lift something heavy. But the most common indicator that youre getting older is how your vision changes. These changes in eyesight are subtle and start during middle age and gradually progress toward old age.

One of the common vision changes is the inability to focus ones vision up-close. Could it be presbyopia? When it is becoming difficult to read or when you need to hold a book farther from your eyes to be able to read it better, you probably have presbyopia. Speak with your eye doctor about whether you need contacts or glasses to improve your eyesight.

Do your eyes often feel dry and irritated? This could be dry eye syndrome, a condition thats more serious than your ordinary eye irritation. This condition results from staring at a computer screen or mobile phone for prolonged periods.

Did you know diabetes can also contribute to blindness? When blood sugar levels are elevated, it causes damage to the blood vessels and nerves in the eyes. If diabetes is left uncontrolled, it can lead to vision loss.

Glaucoma is a common eye condition for people aged 60 and above. This vision disorder involves optic nerve damage. When not treated, it will gradually result in loss of vision.

Do you notice a thin layer of film over your vision? The cloudy eyesight is caused by cataracts. Normally the solution against hazy vision is surgery, removing the clouding over the lens of the eyes.

If youre experiencing any of these vision disorders, consult with your eye doctor as soon as possible to avoid further vision deterioration or to avert serious complications.
